  • 1.  Wildlife (reptile) exclusion BMPs from construction site

    Posted Apr 26, 2023 11:23 AM

    Hello all,

I'm seeking new ideas and alternative methods of creating a physical barrier or "exclusionary fencing" around the perimeter of construction sites, specifically to prevent turtle and snakes from entering active work areas. BMPs to exclude individuals from entering work areas often requires the installation and maintenance of polypropylene silt fence and a qualified/trained person to sweep areas before equipment enters the work site.

Has anyone had success pursuing alternatives to silt fence, as it is inherently time consuming to install/maintain and non-biodegradable with a one time use.

Thank you for reading and any suggestions!

Good morning Lucas, Apologies on the delay of feedback.

While not a biodegradable option, Siltron could be an option vs. standard wireback or chain link fencing typically utilized in turtle fence applications. It will not elongate, outperforms silt fence & comes pre-staked sold in 50' sections for easy roll out & install.

    Thanks!
