CHAPTER TREASURER ARTHUR “ART” ALLEN HAS RETIRED
To paraphrase the bard: “Retirement is such sweet sorrow.” After a long and rewarding career in soil and wetland science, Art Allen retired from EcoTec, Inc. on July 31, 2026. Art was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1959 and grew up in the “wilds” of New Braintree and North Brookfield. When not working for his father’s water systems business or doing chores around his family’s small farm, he was sent off to have fun in the woods or on his bike to friends’ homes several miles away. In those days, long before cell phones, you literally fended for yourself – there was no one to call if you got banged up or lost. That independence turned out to be a good start for someone who spent most of his adult life crashing around in the woods, fields, and meadows. He dedicated his career to conserving and protecting the environment (built and unbuilt) and is now moving from Princeton, MA to a large property in rural western Pennsylvania to start the next chapter of his life. IECA and the Northeast Chapter played a large part in in his career and is well worth supporting going forward.
