Rebecca Bentley, PE will be presenting, “Innovative Slope Stabilization and Erosion Control Solutions in Vermont: Case Studies from the Field” on Tuesday, November 4. This presentation will explore the geotechnical response of slopes to extreme precipitation, with a focus on both surficial failures and deep-seated rotational failures. Attendees will leave being able to describe different forms of slope failures, understand shallow and deep slope failure resolutions, and demonstrate an understanding of preventative measures that can be taken to help prevent slope failures.
Rob Kenneally will be presenting, “Designing Stormwater Sedimentation Basins: Balancing Standards with Engineering Judgement” on Wednesday, November 5. This presentation highlights key technical principles—like sediment yield estimation, detention time, and flow control—while emphasizing the importance of adapting to site-specific factors such as soil, topography, and construction phasing. Learn how flexible, data-driven approaches can optimize basin performance, ensure compliance, and deliver practical solutions for civil and environmental engineers, stormwater professionals, and regulators.
New at this year’s regional conference, Senior Vice President and Principal Eric Steinhauser, who also serves as the Northeast IECA Chapter President, will moderate a Contractors Panel focused on field implementation of erosion and sediment control practices. The goal will be to better understand how information presented on design/engineering drawings and in specifications is translated
into the field applications. The panel will be on Tuesday, November 4th from 10:30am to 11:30 am.
On Wednesday, November 5th from 8:30am to 9:30am Senior Project Manager Kelly Anderson will participate in a Women in Construction panel examining the role of female focused training, career development paths and mentorship opportunities in the industry. From project superintendents, engineers, landscape architects, project managers, inspectors and compliance managers the roles for women are vast. The panelists will share personal experiences overcoming challenges in a male-dominated industry and how they maintain work/life balance.

Join us for our Northeast Chapter Meeting to be held during the conference on Tuesday, November 4th from 11:40am to 11:55am.

We will hear about the state of the chapter, recognize officers and board members, elect chapter officers and discuss membership events and
opportunities for the upcoming year.
