IECA Pulse: It is all About the Buzz

By Jerry B. Sanders,CPESC posted 7 days ago

In today’s world, it is all about the Buzz, what is happening in the entertainment and sports world, what is happening in politics, what is Elon doing, who is the newest and best in each arena of activity.  The more it is talked about the more we become involved and our own thought process and professional activities begin to take a back seat along with our potential impact.  We all need/want to be involved and aware but are we being so involved in our day-to-day routine and the activities of others and other industries that we are sacrificing the impact of our profession and association.

The IECA Mission:
Protecting Soil and Water Resources Globally
Advancing Standards of Practice
And
Fostering a Global Alliance in Erosion and Stormwater Management

Let’s create a Buzz about the IECA and its Mission.  Each of us has a story to tell, a lesson learned or a project that pushed the boundaries of conventional activity in erosion and water resource protection.  We need to share these and start a buzz about the importance of advancing standards of practice and fostering the development of our global interaction.   If we want involvement, we must first get involved.  Spread the news of chapter events and meetings to associates, suppliers and competitors.  Step up and share experiences you have been directly involved in or get others whose work you admire to share their ideas and experience with all of us.

Check out the Chapter and Annual Conference events and put them on your calendar.  Make them an education destination, or better yet an event to share your expertise and experience.  Ever want to go to Australia or New Zealand, now is the time to go for both education and enjoyment, the Australasia Conference is October 21-23.  What could be better than going there to learn, share and vacation.  Where else could you go and have 300 plus tour guides who would love to see you.  Want to have an educational experience and travel in the USA, try out the Mid-Atlantic Conference September 30 – Oct 1 or head over to Texas to the South-Central October 8-9.

As Erosion and Stormwater professionals it is up to us to start the Buzz, to elevate our champions in the profession and to move our agenda of protecting Soil and Water Resources forward.  We all have a story, we all know someone that has influenced us in our profession, we can each be impactful in our community and region.  Start the Buzz, share with an associate your involvement in the IECA, write an article, teach a procedure or technique that you or your organization have developed or used.

The Buzz Starts When We Share!
